Demand Justice for Women in Afghanistan
Amnesty International USA
2004
A woman from the central highlands of Afghanistan was raped by a local
commander, who also threatened to kill her father- and brothers-in-law.
This prompted them to leave for Kabul. Repeated reports of this case
to the authorities did not yield any investigations.
Women and girls continue to be threatened with violence
in many aspects of their life, both private and public in Afghanistan.
Weapons remain a mainstay of Afghan men's lives and violence against
women and girls, including rape, mental and physical cruelty, forced
marriages and exchange of girls to settle disputes are reportedly
widespread.
Please sign the petition below urging President
Karzai to stop violence against women in Afghanistan!
