Week of Action Against Small Arms
June, 2003
The European Union Assistance on Curbing Small Arms and Light Weapons
in Cambodia (EU ASAC) organized on June 5, 2003 a "flames of
peace" weapons destruction ceremony in Kampot. The small ceremony,
which had extensive media coverage, was held in the ex-Khmer Rouge
community that had collected the weapons to symbolize the end of
violence. An earlier ceremony attended by thousands of people in
Stung Treng destroyed 2535 guns. For photos and more information
