Sinim Mira Nissigue, an NGO established in the late 1990's,
has been taking the lead on bringing information and advocacy to
the rural areas of Guinea-Bissau and mobilizing women around the
issue of FGM. Women have been developing and advocating alternative
purification rites that are not physically invasive. For more information
