Operation: Keeping Out the Witnesses

May, 2003

Journalists who cover the territories:
We shoot at them and void journalist credentials.

International volunteers serving as human shields for Palestinian children:
We run over, shoot, and expel them.

Israeli peace activists out to meet Palestinian colleagues:
We issue orders that this is a ‘closed military zone’.

Travel between Israel and the occupied territories:
We build walls, fences, trenches, and checkpoints.

Islamic movement members who provide aid in the territories:
We arrest them and present them as supporters of terror.

The Goal:
No witnesses. No contacts. No hope.We must not allow this operation to succeed!

In the face of government efforts to create a ‘separation fence’ between Jews and Arabs and expand the conflict with Palestinians to within the borders of Israel, we call upon all those who cherish democracy and equality to safeguard together the civil and political rights of all residents of Israel and the occupied territories. We must not allow the Sharon government to remove the Palestinian citizens of Israel from the institutions of democracy.
Jews and Arabs on behalf of a shared future of solidarity, peace, and equality.
