Who can change the world... in 88 days?
Campaign 88 Days is an effort to raise awareness, take action and mobilise resources for women's rights worldwide. In the 88 days between December 10, 2005, International Human Rights Day and March 8 2006, International Women’s Day, you can help keep women safe from domestic and sexual violence, guarantee them equal treatment in the work force, push governments to do what’s right for women, and support groundbreaking initiatives. Together with you support we can change the world in 88 days. Because women’s rights are human rights…read the facts.

Why Campaign 88 Days?
Because:

  • in 2003 only 0.04% of total European Commission aid supported women-specific projects and programs.
  • in 2003 governments spent $69 billion on development aid world-wide. In that same year $900 billion was spent on weapons and war.
  • of that $69 billion spent on development aid, only 3.6% had gender equality as a significant or principal objective.
  • all experts agree that women can make a crucial contribution to the peace process and the fight to end poverty. A more powerful position of women in economy, politics and education can benefit everyone in society.
  • Mama Cash is one of very few women’s funds in the world that aim specifically at supporting women and supports pioneering and groundbreaking initiatives led by women, for women.
  • in 2003 Mama Cash had a total budget of €4.2 million. In comparison: Amnesty International had an annual budget of $234 million; Greenpeace had an annual budget of $203 million.
