Know How Conference on the World of Women's Information
The Know How Conference 2002 will be held within Women World's 2002 program from 23-26 July, 2002 in Kampala, Uganda. This will be the 5th conference of specialists in the collection and dissemination of information relevant to women. The conference is being organized by Isis-Women's International Cross-Cultural Exchange (Isis-WICCE) assisted by the International Information Center and Archives for the Women's Movement (IIAV) in Amsterdam.

The Women of Uganda Network WOUGNET's goal is to promote the use of information and communication technologies by women organisations and individuals for the better being of Ugandan women. In line with this, a WOUGNET mailing list and website were setup for information exchange and dissemination. The mailing list currently has over eighty subscribers including a number from women organisations in Uganda. The website is located at http://www.wougnet.org and profiles women organisations based in Uganda (including links to their websites where available) as well as women related projects and activities in a variety of areas including health, agriculture, business, education, and women in parliament. In addition, WOUGNET will conduct research aimed at creating awareness on the status of ICT usage and application by women and on the status of engenderment of ICT policies within organisations and nationally. These research efforts will be used for advocacy directed at changing ICT policies and programmes in Uganda.

Women's Organisation for Development and Conflict Resolution "Has the affirmative action for women gone beyond mere rhetoric?" calls for women action to create a just and healthy environment.

CEEWA WIRES (Women's Information Resource Electronic Service)
WIRES is an initiative started in 1999 by Council for Economic Empowerment for Women of Africa (CEEWA)-Uganda Chapter. It is an Internet-based Information Resource Centre designed to provide relevant business information to women in Uganda with the end goal of empowering the small-scale entrepreneurs in Uganda.

Isis-WICCE aims to bring sustainable peace in the Great Lakes region with women at the centre. The campaign is a process to ensure women’s involvement in initiatives that will create sustainable and lasting peace. It emphasizes respect for the human rights of all, justice and ability to manage the consequences of the violations including trauma, and sexual & reproductive health and rights. Inevitably, it will take time and care to build up. Already there is a vanguard of women activists committed to the cause and learning, as well as strategizing together at the national and Great Lakes levels.
