VOW: Canadian Voice of Women for Peace
Some of VOW's objectives include uniting women around the world, promoting cooperation among nations, and protesting war. Specific activities include:

Promoting a Culture of Peace : This campaign works with the UNESCO Initiative to develop and document women's contribution to creating a culture of peace as opposed to a culture of violence. Recent dialogues with groups from Rwanda and Mexico have elaborated on this concept.

Nuclear Issues: This campaign works to pressure the Canadian government to deal with the human and environmental costs of nuclear weapons.

New Songs for Peace
The mandate for the New Songs for Peace project is to encourage people to write a new song for peace send it to us in manuscript form so that we can publish it in a book that will distributed free of charge (less postage and handling) to teachers, musicians and to all who work for peace. All writers retain their own copyright.

We have been endorsed by Pete Seeger, the Woody Guthrie archives, Philip Glass, Abby Lincoln Aminata Moseka, Ron Glass, the Hon. Sheila Copps Canadian Minister for culture and Heritage and many others.

The project was born as a result of the UN proclamation that this decade be the Decade for the Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World. The Voice of Women, an association of the UN sponsored a Culture of Peace training that Honey Novick, director of the project attended. At that training Miss Novick was asked to collect NEW songs in response to the UN proclamation.
