Petition condemning fundamentalism, specially of the type introduced by Khomeini

We, the Association of Iranian Women ›USA strongly believe that as long as fundamentalism, specially of the type introduced by Khomeini, a theory that no public or private matter concerning a Muslim or anyone living in the Islamic world is beyond the supreme religious leader juristiction exists, the humanity is in dire danger of terrorism.

Diametrically, the Mojahedin, a major opposition organization to the Iranian regime, denouncing that philosophy and strongly believing in a secular and democratic society with equality for its citizens regardless of race, religion, culture,and gender. The leadership of Mojahedin consists of women and most of the key positions within the organization on national and international level are occupied solely by women. AIWUSA along with many other Iranian NGOes are petitioning all democratic individuals and organizations to condemn the fundamentalist regime and endorse the attached petition to facilitate the opposition Œs strenuous efforts towards peace and freedom for Iranian people and women emancipation.

We believe that fundamentalism and terrorism will continue to threaten the world so long as the mullahs remain in power in Iran. We therefore urge the European Union:

-To remove the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran from its list
of terrorist organizations;

- To monitor closely the human rights situation in Iran;

-To monitor closely the Women rights situation in Iran,-To introduce an initiative in the next session of the UN General Assembly to bring about the condemnation of the worsening human rights situation and stockpiling of weapons of mass destruction by Iran's ruling theocracy;

- To Support the Iranian Resistance's demand for a free and fair election in Iran under UN supervision, and recognize the Iranian people's right to resist this most brutal dictatorship in the contemporary world,

- To defend freedom and human rights and not allow the mullahs in Iran take hostage Europe's democratic values.

We believe that support for the democratic goals of the National Council of Resistance of Iran coalition will contribute to respect for human rights in Iran and promote peace and tranquility in the region.
