Within this sub-region, PeaceWomen is currently monitoring 6 countries (Angola, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe). Southern Africa is home to countries of medium (Gabon 93) to the lowest (Zimbabwe 169) levels of human development, in addition to post-conflicts countries. According to the Global Gender Gap Index (GGGI,) countries in Southern Africa rank from 8 (Lesotho) to 106 (Zambia).
