Angola: OMA Upgrades Staff On Women's Role in Politics

April 22, 2008 - (AllAfrica) About 40 women from various base structures of the ruling MPLA party's women wing known as the Organisation of Angolan Woman (OMA) in the region are being upgraded on the women in politics, with view of equipping them with knowledge for a massive and responsible participation in the forthcoming legislative elections, set for next September.

The workshop, promoted by the executive secretariat of MPLA's women wing in northern Uíge province, will last two days and discusses, among others, topics such as "why women should vote and how to cope with the media".

The need for greater cohesion and unity between women for their participation in tasks of mobilising the group, mindful of the lies ahead, was considered by the OMA's provincial secretary in Uíge, Albertina Cuginga Moco Muxindo, as a priority task of the organisation for the current period.

Albertina Cuginga Moco stressed the need of joining efforts with other members of MPLA's organisations of the masses, so that the goals outlined by the ruling party can be achieved in the next elections.
