December 10, 2003 – (Angola Press Agency - Luanda) Angola's ruling MPLA party women wing (OMA) today in Luanda spoke of the need for more women within the various structures of the party and of the State, according to their competence and value.

This was said by OMA secretary general, Luzia Inglês, while reading out her organisation's message to the MPLA 5th Congress, at a session that closed the meeting that started last Saturday.

According to Luzia Inglês, for the last four decades of its existence OMA has been undertaking the vanguard of the defence of the women rights, substantiated in the conquests attained at national level.

"Today it is a reality the participation of women in many structures of the national administration and in country's public institutions," she said To her, the organ she leads has always held on priority basis the socially useful work directed to women, with stress to literacy, first health care and other actions that have an impact on the life of the population at large.

As a result of the just-ended 5th Congress of the ruling MPLA party, women take 27,3 percent of the Central Committee, against the previous 13 percent of the outgoing leading organ.
