Women Participation in Millennium Goals Debated
July 29, 2005 (Angola Press Agency)
At least fifty five women from various female organisations Thursday,
here have debated and reflected about their participation in the
achievement of millennium development goals, on the occasion of
African Woman's Day, to be marked on Sunday (July 31).
According to the director for promotion and organisation of Woman
Promotion and Family Ministry, Margarida Ulisavo, the activity meant
to increase the knowledge of women regarding the methods to change
their way of acting and then contributing in the development of
the continent.
During the meeting, the participants exchanged experiences on women
contribution in the fight against poverty and hunger, HIV/Aids and
other diseases.
A press note issued at the event states that women have defined
as goals for millennium development the eradication of poverty and
hunger, reaching a level of education that allows them to develop
themselves, promoting equality between genders and women autonomy,
reducing children mortality rate, amongst other challenges.
