Women Propose National Consensus
Agenda for Gender Issues
October 21, 2006 - (Angola Press Agency) The participants at the
International Conference on Woman Participation in Political Life
on Thursday in Luanda defended the creation of a national consensus
agenda for issues of gender balance and women promotion.
The fact was released by the programmes officer of the United Nations
Human Rights Offices, Eneida Martins, while speaking in a press
conference that marked the closing act of the referred forum. This
document, according to Eneida Martins, will bring to the public
every problem that affects woman and to sensitise and make the society
aware of the need for a full participation of women in political
and public life.
"The participation of woman is a condition for development.
It is a matter of human rights. There is no progress with the exclusion
of a social group", she underlined during the press conference.
The UN official also defended for the need of devising a follow-up
mechanism of international and regional tools that protect the full
participation of woman in political, social and economic spheres.
