Participation in Politics
September 14, 2006 - (Angola Press Agency) An international
conference on women's participation in public life and politics
will take place on 17-19 October here, promoted by the Norwegian
People Aid (NPA) and the UN Human Rights Office.
The event, which is aimed at promoting women's participation
in every sector of the society, will be divided in four panels,
namely "Women's Participation in the Angolan Political Life",
"The Political Empowerment of Women", "Women's Participation
in Electoral Processes and "The Involvement of Women in the
Peace and National Reconciliation Process".
The conference will gather representatives from
countries with good reference in terms of participation of women
in political life, such as South Africa, Rwanda, Mozambique, Spain,
Colombia and Brazil. The meeting is part of the project "Reinforcement
of Women's Participation in Public Life", promoted by NPA,
since October 2005. The project is being developed in five provinces
of the country and includes trainings and exchange of experience
