WOMAN WORLD'S DAY AGAINST VIOLENCE CELEBRATED

November 25, 2002 – (Angola Press Agency - Luanda) Non governmental Organisations and defenders of gender equality gathered Monday morning in Luanda to commemorate the women world's day against violence being signaled today.

Representatives of political parties, civic associations and jurists are among the participants of this meeting, which debated the violence facing the female stratum.

The Angop source said the meeting also approved a motion of solidarity with women from Nigeria, the country where Sharia (Muslem law) allows abuse of woman rights, including death penalty by stone throwing for adultery.

Referring to the woman world's day, the Angolan Minister of Family and Woman Promotion, Candida Celeste addresseda message in which she focused on violence against woman in the country.

Meanwhile, today starts a 16-day activity against violence countrywide which ends on December 10, the anniversary of the universal declaration of human rights.
