FAMILY AFFAIRS MINISTRY TO DISCUSS GENDER

June 13, 2003 - (Angola Press Agency - Luanda) The role of man in the equality of sex and women's role in conflicts management and maintenance of world peace is one of the topics of a debate at a workshop taking place in July.

According to a source from the Ministry of Family and Women Promotion (MINFAMU) that will promote the initiative, the meeting aims to analyse these matters with representatives of both sexes, since the perspective of gender includes the companionship and mutual complementing.

MINFAMU director for equality, Mpava Medina, talking to Angop, emphasised that the workshop is part of preparations for the 48º session of the United Nations Women Status Commission, to be held in March 2004, in New York.

United Nation Women Status Commission is to meet every year in March to analyse the global female population situation. At the meeting, the
member countries provide information on the promotion and development of this group.
