1325 Reasons

September 21, 2007 - (OneWorld) On the occasion of September 21, the International Day of Peace, the Journalists for Women and Children Rights and Environmental Protection nongovernmental organization, in cooperation with the French Caritas, launch the “1325 Reasons Why!” campaign. The campaign aims to pressure the Parliament of Macedonia to ratify the UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

Reaffirming the important role the women play in conflict prevention and resolution and peace-building, the citizens of Macedonia demand that the Resolution is ratified by the Parliament, seven years after it was adopted by the UN – says Natasa Dokovska, project manager.

The same message is printed on the post-cards that will be distributed to Macedonian citizens, to sign them and send them to Foreign Minister Milososki.

Milena Mitic´ from the French Caritas says that the campaign aims to raise public awareness and noted that Macedonia is the only country in the region that has not ratified UN Resolution 1325.
