Some 50,000 Women to Train On Rights
July 3, 2005 (The Daily Monitor)
African Initiative for Democratic World Order is to train 50,000
women in Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa cities on women rights, it was
disclosed.
The NGO disclosed its plans after finalizing a five day training
for 15 legal professionals. The 15 who completed the training at
Ras Amba Hotel yesterday are expected to train others.
The beneficiaries of the project will be trained on the revised
federal family law, constitutional right of women, and international
conventions on women rights Ethiopia is signatory, Yetnayet Andarge,
Project Executive told The Daily Monitor.
The women trainees shall be drawn from all sectors of the society
which includes students, house wives, professionals, and others.
AIDWO is planning to work with organized women right groups in the
undertaking of the training.
Over 400 thousand birr is allocated for the project, Yetnayet added,
which will be launched as of next week in different location at
Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa.
