Ellen-Johnson Sirleaf commends Kadhafi`s efforts for Liberia

December 22, 2005 - (AngolaPress) Liberia`s president-elect Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has thanked the Libyan leader, Colonel Moamar Kadhafi for his efforts for the return of peace, security and stability in her country.

Speaking in Tripoli Wednesday evening, Sirleaf said she had come for consultations with Libyan authorities on ways to strengthen African solidarity and get advise from Kadhafi.

"Liberia is on the right path after the end of the armed conflict. We are committed to African unity and the unity of Liberian people and we are striving to fulfil that hope and objective," she said, while affirming her commitment to promote the aspirations of African women for development.

The Libyan deputy minister for external relations and cooperation Said Hifyana and other members of the Liberian delegation attend the discussions between Kadhafi and the visiting Liberian president-elect, who will be sworn-in on 16 January 2006.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf had jetted into Tripoli on Wednesday morning.
