Unamsil Chief Unveils Women's Help Line Project
By Theodora Renner

November 3, 2004 - (Concord Times) Special Representative of the UN Secretary General Ambassador Daudi Mwakawago launched the Women's Help Line Project (WHLP) over the weekend in Pujehun.

Ambassador Mwakawago said in spite of the untold suffering inflicted on women during the war, the women of Pujehun had made encouraging efforts to deal with the legacy of war.

"The UN will help to promote the human rights of women," he said and noted that women should focus on developing their communities.

Deputy Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Nancy Asanga said she was impressed by the "zeal" demonstrated by the women of Pujehun and promised them of UNDP's support.

Christine Kuna Tita, National Coordinator of WHLP said similar projects had been launched in other part of the country.

According to her, they are taking up the challenge to empower themselves to be self-reliant
