By Jesca Nankumba
February 23, 2004 (New Vision - Kampala) Women in 10 districts
have received loans of more than sh19.5b from Feed the Children
Uganda.
This was under the community banking programme. While speaking at
the organisation's headquarters recently, the communications officer,

and children.
Kakaire said it focused on health, education and economic development
and involved giving loans to women to start businesses to help them
cater for their children.
Kakaire said the programme also trained women on how to improve
management of their businesses in order to increase their earnings.
The districts which have so far benefited from the project include
kampala, Mpigi, Wakiso, Mukono, Kayunga, Katakwi, Rukungiri, Jinja,
Ntungamo and Kanungu.
