PRESIDENT APPOINTS 3 WOMEN TO TOP POSTS

February 26, 2004 – (The Herald - Harare) President Mugabe has appointed three women to important positions within the Public Service Commission and the Comptroller and Auditor General's Office.

The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, said in a statement Cde Mugabe appointed Mrs Midlred Chiri the new Comptroller and Auditor General.

Mrs Chiri replaces Mr Abdulman Harrid who retired from the civil service.
She was up to now the deputy Comptroller and Auditor General.

Ms Tendai Bare was appointed a member of the Public Service Commission for three years.

She was a senior Permanent Secretary in the then Ministry of National Affairs, Employment Creation and Co-operatives.

From the ministry, she joined the Commonwealth Secretariat as director in the divisions of technical assistance and that of governance and institutional development.

Mrs Diana Guti was re-appointed as a member of the Public Service Commission for a period of one year.
