THE AFRICAN WOMEN'S COMMITTEE ON PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT (AWCPD) REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE

April 30, 2002 - The AWCPD Secretariat is currently in the process of gathering information for a comprehensive database of African Women Organizations or non-African Women Organizations working on the resolution of conflicts in Africa. We kindly request your assistance to facilitate this process.

We wish to request that you furnish us with detailed information about your Organization, and also provide us with links to other African Women Organizations or other Women Organizations working on the resolution of conflicts in Africa. Information or inputs that could facilitate our work would be greatly appreciated.

We would also be very grateful if you could also pass on the request to other gender focal point(s) and networks.

The African Women Committee on Peace and Development (AWCPD) is an advisory body to the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and the Executive-Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission of Africa (UNECA) on issues relating to gender, peace, security, stability and development in Africa. The AWCPD also seeks to enhance the contribution of women to the achievements of the OAU Mechanism for Conflict, Prevention, Management and Resolution.

Le Comite Africain des Femmes pour la Paix et le Developpement (African Women Committee on Peace and Development, AWCPD), organe consultatif aupres de l'Organisation de l'Unite Africaine et de la Commission Economique des Nations Unies pour l'Afrique pour les questions de genre, paix, securite, stabilite et developpement en Afrique, et la promotion de la contribution des femmes aux mecanismes de prevention, de gestion et de resolution des conflits, cree une base de donnee sur les organisations de femmes en Afrique et au-dela oeuvrant sur les questions de resolution des conflits. Faites connaatre l'action de votre organisation sur ces themes.
