1. Conference Follow-Up: Towards A Women-Inclusive Peace: Why 1325 Is The Crucial Number (Lucinda Marshall)

On September 21, Lucinda Marshall presented at MountMaryCollege in Milwaukee, WI on the importance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 as part of their celebration of the International Day of Peace. The presentation was co-sponsored by the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom as part of their Advancing Women As Peacemakers Program in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of UNSCR 1325. 

2. Statement by Ms. Navanethem Pillay, at the Seminar on “Women, Peace and Security: from Resolution to Action”

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights concluded the Ten Years of Security Council Resolution 1325 even in Geneva on September 15, 2010.

3. GNWP Member Sharon Bhagwan Rolls Speaks at Ministerial Meeting on 1325

On Saturday September 25th, MemberStates, UN Agencies and Civil Society gathered at the UN for the Ministerial Meeting on Security Council Resolution 1325 "A Call to Action." The objective of the meeting, convened by the Mission of Canada and a number of co-sponsoring missions, was to pledge concrete, measurable and time bound commitments towards the implementation of the resolution.

Conference Follow-Up: Women Making Peace: Where are We Now? Maximizing the Impact of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, 10 Years On

The United Nations University (UNU) hosted a seminar on September 8, assessing global progress toward implementation of the groundbreaking resolution which calls for increased recognition of and support for the role of women in prevention and resolution of conflict.

5. Conference Follow-Up: National Conference on Women, Peace and Security Opens in Ghana

A national conference to discuss 1325 on Women's involvement in Peace and Security opened in Accra.

6. 10 Points on 10 Years UNSCR 1325 in Europe

CSO Position Paper on Europe-wide Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325. The paper has benefited from worldwide consultation. Over 60 organisations and networks explicitly align themselves with its recommendations.  

7. e-Roundup: Implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 at Ten: Looking Back and Looking Ahead

This special e-Roundup aims to provide background information on SCR 1325 and the three resolutions that build on it – 1820, 1888 and 1889 – and to highlight some of the events taking place to commemorate a decade of Resolution 1325.

2. Conference Follow-Up: Brussels Conference Conclusions: SCR 1325 'Ensuring Women's Participation in Peace and Security'

On 9 September 2010 the European Union (EU) and Belgium organised an event in Brussels called 'Ensuring women’s participation in peace and security' to mark the 10th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution (SCR) 1325.

3. Conference Follow-Up: Women, Peace and Security: from Resolution to Action, The Protection Agenda under Security Council Resolution 1325/2000  Consultation Conclusions 

The participants of the Geneva Consultation on “Women, Peace and Security: from Resolution to Action”, met on the 15-16 September 2010 as part of a series of events, in recognition of the 10th anniversary of Security Council Resolution 1325 (SC/Res/1325). In the presence of representatives of governments, the European Union (EU), the United Nations and civil society including women’s organisations and networks, came together to translate our shared experiences and commitments into actionable recommendations. 

4. Conference Follow-Up: 10 years after UN SCR 1325 : Conflict Prevention Mechanisms

On 2 September 2010, Mary Robinson, Bineta Diop and Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda critically discussed the concept of conflict prevention under Security Council Resolution (SCR) 1325, and the local, national, regional and, international mechanisms which should be linked with prevention strategies. The event, “10 years after UN SCR 1325: Conflict Prevention Mechanisms”, was attended by over eighty representatives from Member State delegations, the UN and civil society and chaired by Madeleine Rees, Secretary General of Women’s International League for Peace andFreedom (WILPF).
