PeaceWomen monitors the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women in the lead up to and during its sessions. The Committee was established in 1982 to monitor implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The Committee meets every year in at least two sessions of three weeks each. The sessions take place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, and it is expected that one session per year will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
