PeaceWomen monitors the work of the General Assembly primarily during its General Debate in September of each year, as well as during the meetings of the Third Committee, Social, Humanitarian and Cultural.
Tuesday September 17, 2013, marked the opening of the 68th session of the General Assembly. The General Debate took place between September 24 -October 2 under the official theme ”Post-2015 Development Agenda: Setting the Stage”.

The 69th session of the General Assembly will begin on September 16, 2014 with newly elected General Assembly President Sam Kutesa, the Foreign Minister of Uganda. Mr Kutesa has proposed that the 69th session theme should be "Delivering on and Implementing a Transformative Post-2015 Development Agenda".
