UN Implementation is an over-arching category that is relevant all the other thematic areas. We recommend that users also browser other relevant thematic areas and see the section of the site PeaceWomen & the UN which monitors implementation within the UN system.
The various entities and bodies of the United Nations bear a large part of the responsibility for implementing the Security Council Resolutions 1325, 1820, 1888 and 1889. It is the work of these entities and bodies that helps make these policy commitments a reality at the country level where UN peace or development operations are in place. Read More>>

INTERNATIONAL: UN Envoy for Sexual Violence in Conflict to Step Down Next Month Margot Wallström, who has been spearheading United Nations efforts to tackle sexual violence in conflict, will step down from her post at the end of May due to family considerations, it was announced today. -

INTL: Human Trafficking Victim Advocates Gather at the United Nations Human trafficking was on the agenda today at the United Nations in New York as a UN General Assembly interactive dialogue meeting, “Fighting Human Trafficking: Partnership and Innovation to End Violence Against Women,” revealed that international funding efforts are falling short, in spite of ongoing organizational efforts to decrease the number of people forced to be world labourers. Criminal activities in forced labour includes the merchandising of human beings inside the forced sex-industry in what has been globally assessed by the UNODC – UN Office on Drugs and Crime, as an “illegal industry involving 2.4 million people” kept by human traffickers worldwide as slaves. Every year, thousands of people fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad, with women comprising two thirds of global trafficking victims, outlined the UNODC. -
