NGO ADVOCACY AT THE UNITED NATIONS

UN policies affect the way people all over the world live their lives. From attending UN conferences as an NGO representative, to petitioning the Permanent Representative of your country, there are many ways to get involved in the UN policy-making process. This section is devoted to providing non-governmental organizations, activists and advocates from around the world with information and resources to make advocating international change at the UN easier.

The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), the organization that sponsors the Peacewomen project, has had special consultative status with the UN through the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 1948. WILPF also has Special Consultative Relations with the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) in Rome, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in New York.
