The fifty-first session of the Commission on the Status of Women took place from 26 February to 9 March 2007. In accordance with its multi-year programme of work for 2007-2009, the Commission considered “The elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against the girl child” as its priority theme. This year’s review theme was “the role of men and boys in achieving gender equality.”

Highlight: 

At CSW 51 (2007), 71 WILPF participants participated in the session. The WILPF PeaceWomen program also participated through advocacy with member states and with partners on issues of girls and armed conflict, sexual and gender-based violence in conflict. We also attended numerous parallel events organized by NGOs, member states, UN entities, and other inter-governmental groups, and were involved in the NGO CSW’s CSW work.
