SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT 2016

Now that the world’s governments have adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development together with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is time to talk strategy and implementation. What must be done so that the agenda lives up to its promises? 

Implementing the SDGs, including goals on gender equality (SDG 5) and stable and peaceful societies (SDG 16), requires effective mechanisms and financing to hold states accountable to human rights commitments. 

Key follow-up mechanisms to Agenda 2030 include: 

At the High Level Political Forum, 22 Member States volunteered for the National Voluntary Reviews including: China, Colombia, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Madagascar, Mexico, Montegro, Morocco, Norway, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Swizerland, Togo, Turkey, Uganda, and Venezuela.
