There has been a call for annual dialogue on women, peace and security to allow Pacific leaders to hear directly from women.

This comes as Pacific Forum leaders affirmed their commitment to the establishment of a Pacific Regional Network on UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

A network made up of four regional women's groups said it was critical to strengthen and sustain regional and domestic efforts by women's civil society networks working on peace and security and working to further advance the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325;

UNSCR 1325 reiterated its call for the development of a Regional Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security through a regional high-level multi-stakeholder conference.

"We believe that this would provide a broad framework to assist Pacific governments to develop relevant national program and strategies on women, peace and security," the network said.

"It would aslo provide ways to accelerate implementation of UNSCR1325 and 1820."
