UN women are now working with the Pacific Regional Facility Fund to try to prevent and eliminate violence against women.

The Pacific Regional Facility has funded this initiative, working with its regional partners in Fiji and the Pacific.

A recent survey by the Fiji Women's Crisis Centre found that fifty percent of women have been emotionally abused by their husbands or partners while sixty four percent have been physically or sexually abused in their relationships.

Representative of the UN Women to Fiji and Acting UN resident coordinator – Elzira Sagynbaeva says a more collaborative effort is needed from various stakeholders in working with women in society and addressing the problems they face.
