The role of women in politics of the country from the platform of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) was filled with splendid contributions from the movement for the creation of Pakistan to the establishment of an image of progressive Pakistan today. The role of women was still very vibrant under the leadership of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Perveen Bashir, PMLN women wing leader, expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the PMLN women wing at the PMLN provincial secretariat in Karachi on Friday.

She said that PMLN women had played their role in general elections-2013 and would also play an important role in coming local body polls in the country especially in Sindh.

In his address, Ali Akbar Gujjar said that what had happened in general elections-2013 would not be allowed to occur again and the majority of elected representatives in the local body system would be from PMLN and in this regard, the role of PMLN women would be of pivotal importance.

He said that when the PMLN leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was imprisoned in a jail in Karachi, they were the PMLN women had struggled against the military dictatorship.
