Kimberly King to Present at UN Peace Fair Commemorating the 10th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security

We encourage all members in the New York area and those working with the United Nations to attend this special presentation at the UN PEACE FAIR, co-hosted by Women's International Center and Women United.

This participatory multimedia Peace Fair brings together organizations from around the world dedicated to the implementation of UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. Exhibits and presentations will be held throughout the week to showcase the contributions that women's groups and other civil society organizations have made to implement the resolution.

It is also an initiative to send a collective message to the international community on what remains to be done and what the priorities should be to fully and effectively implement this groundbreaking international law.

About WIC's UN Representative Kimberly King:

Kimberly King is a peacebuilder and global change agent in the fields of strategic partnerships, women's empowerment and socially conscious enterprise. She has been a catalyst and founding organizer for numerous community service organizations including the Women's Action Network, Alliance for a New Humanity, So Kids Can Dream and Stand Up and Vote.

Kimberly's award winning multi-media campaigns on behalf of the United Nations Development Fund (Unifem) and UN Foreign Population Fund (UNFPA) have helped raise awareness on issues ranging from infant mortality and public health to global security and violence against women. Kimberly's Peace Through Dialog and Interfaith Initiatives have helped build bridges of understanding between women in Israel, Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Kimberly supports numerous micro-finance and development programs worldwide and was the recipient of the Eleanor Roosevelt Global Humanitarian Award in 2008.

Kimberly currently serves as President of The Peace Company and Advisor and Board Member to the Alliance for Peacebuilding, the Restorative Justice Association, Institute for Strategic Clarity, and Women, Faith and Development Alliance. Kimberly is the UN Representative and International Liaison for Women's International Center.
