Peacebuilding Commission

The United Nations Peacebuilding Commission was established by the UN Security Council and General Assembly on December 20th, 2005 through resolutions 60/180 and 1645. The commission serves as a resource for post-conflict peacebuilding and recovery by gathering relevant actors and resources to provide advisement on proposed integrated strategies and by ensuring stable financing for initial recovery activities and long-term financial investment for mid to long term recovery activities. Additionally, through collaboration political, security, humanitarian and development actors, the Peacebuilding Commission works to develop best practices in peacebuilding. Finally, when necessary, the Commission may elect to extend international attention on post-conflict countries and highlight gaps which may undermine the peacebuilding process.
