WSW Webinar Series: Episode 5; Political Economy of Violence against Women

Wednesday, August 20, 2014 - 20:00
PeaceWomen Consolidated Themes:
Sexual and Gender-Based Violence
Location:

The fifth installment of Women's Power to Stop War webinar series will be hosted by Professor Jacqui True, a specialist in gender and international relations, women, peace and security with a focus on the political economy dimensions of peacebuilding and the long term prevention of violence.

During the event, Professor Jacqui True will outline a feminist political economy approach that helps us to identify the linkages between sexual and gender-based violence against women, gender inequalities and the global/regional structural processes that exacerbate violence and conflict. She will also show that these structures are modifiable and policy changes could be devised to significantly reduce incidence of SGBV in both ‘peaceful' and conflict-affected societies.
