As the 2011 elections are around the corner, the Nigerian woman has been challenged to participate fully in governance.

This call was made by the Lagos State deputy governor, Princess Sarah Sosan, during Arise Women Conference 2010 tagged "The King's Daughter". Sosan, who was the special guest of honor at the occasion, said it is high time women took up their responsibilities in nation building.

According to her, no woman should be found wanting in every endeavor of life and that much is expected from Nigerian women, adding that any nation or society that underestimate the power of womanhood cannot achieve her full potential because "women are the salt of the world and God has deposited something that is unique and that is a great gift that makes us live above any challenges that comes our way"

She challenged Christian women to rise above stereotypes against them and stop at nothing to build a better Nigeria.

In her welcome address, Lagos State First Lady, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, challenged the womenfolk to be passionate for all that is around them and contribute to the growth and development of their different societies. She said this will save the nation and the coming generation from decay by demonstrating good conducts.

She stated that "God has endowed us with great potentials to enable us make the much needed differences in the churches, in our homes and nation at large".
