This commemoration explores the role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts and peacebuilding as first recognized in 1325 in 2000. On its tenth anniversary, WFM Council supports Resolution 1325 and encourages measures that support women's peace initiatives, including their participation in Reconciliation Leadership and the Global Mediation and Reconciliation Service.

Resolution 1325, Women, Peace and Security, is commemorated on its 10th anniversary by speakers and respondents. Reconciliation Leadership and a Global Mediation and Reconciliation Service will be presented as a resource for 1325 to address post-9/11 community, institutional and global challenges with respect for human rights, peaceful settlement of disputes, ethics, values and systems that will secure greater ecological integrity, economic and social well being.
