REPORT: Towards the Realization of Women's Rights and Gender Equality: Post 2015 Sustainable Development

This summary report by the Center for Women's Global Leadership (CWGL) is the culmination of a two-day strategic meeting, “Towards the Realization of Women's Rights and Gender Equality: Post 2015 Sustainable Development,” which took place in Florham Park, New Jersey from June 11-12, 2013. The meeting was organized to identify, analyze, and strategize about the linkages between the realization of women's rights and gender equality and macroeconomic policy within the context of the post 2015 sustainable development framework and processes.

The CWGL, with the support of the Ford Foundation, convened women's rights advocates, economic and social rights experts, and human rights lawyers working from a feminist perspective.

The consultations were guided by the following objectives: to (i) identify priorities for the realization of women's rights and gender equality within the context of macroeconomic policy; (ii) select and develop key messages for selected priorities; (iii) brainstorm strategies for selected priorities; and (vi) discuss next steps. This summary report intends to highlight key points from the meeting and share strategies for moving forward.
