On 7-8 July 2016, the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) co-hosted a two-day workshop entitled "Advancing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda: Local to Global Financing as Mechanisms for Gender Equality and Stable and Peaceful Societies,” at the Church Centre of the United Nations in New York.

This panel event will address how synergies in the implementation of the gender-based violence (GBV) criterion in the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and paragraphs 10 and 51 of the UN Programme of Action BMS5 outcome document can effectively be utilized; and how the GBV criterion in the ATT can be implemented and help enable more effective protection of human rights and prevention of armed violence.
