In 2014 the Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review (UPR) working group reviewed the following states:

  • Session 20 (27 October - 7 November 2014): Italy, El Salvador, Gambia, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Fiji, San Marino, Kazakhstan, Angola, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Madagascar, Iraq, Slovenia, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • Session 19 (28 April - 9 May 2014): Norway, Albania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Portugal, Bhutan, Dominica, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Brunei Darussalam, Costa Rica, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Qatar, Nicaragua.
  • Session 18 (27 January - 7 February 2014): New Zealand, Afghanistan, Chile, Viet Nam, Uruguay, Yemen, Vanuatu, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Comoros, Slovakia, Eritrea, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Cambodia.
Highlight: 

In 2014, WILPF’s Human Rights program led WILPF’s engagement on the Universal Periodic Reviews of Bolivia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo as part of the monitoring, advocacy, and coordination on gender and disarmament issues.

WILPF’S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PRE SESSION OF THE UNIVERSAL PERIODIC REVIEW OF BOLIVIA

WILPF provided recommendations at the Universal Periodic Review of Bolivia on femicide, gender based violence and violence against women, UNSCR 1325 National Action Plan, and CEDAW integration into public institutions.

WILPF STATEMENT ON THE UPR OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO

WILPF provided a statement at the Universal Periodic Review of Democratic Republic of the Congo on women’s participation, mining, arms trade and the Arms Trade Treaty, small arms and light weapons, and gender based violence.
