The present note reflects the results, including decisions taken, of the seventieth and seventy-first sessions of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, held in Geneva from 2 to 20 July and from 22 October to 9 Novembe r 2018, respectively.

The present note provides a summary of the contribution that the work of the Commission on the Status of Women can make to the work of the Economic and Social Council and the high-level political forum on sustainable development in 2019.

In the present report, the contribution of social protection systems, public services and sustainable infrastructure to the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls are examined.

Addressing the priority theme of the 63rd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW63) without tackling gender as a product of a system of power dynamics — namely Patriarchy — will inevitably end in failure.
