First Committee: Disarmament and International Security

On 6 November 2012, First Committee adopted, without a vote, the draft resolution on women, disarmament, non-proliferation, and arms control. The resolution, A/C.1/67/L.35/Rev.1, was tabled by Trinidad and Tobago and co-sponsored by 64 other countries. This is the second time in the history of the General Assembly's First Committee that women and gender have been addressed.

Why Women, Peace and Security

Women have voice and power to be agents of change – to be Peace Women!

Women’s agency, voice and capacities, as well as a real gender perspective are critical to local dialogues, better policies and more equitable peace deals.
