Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 65/191, the present report provides information on the status of women in the United Nations system, including up-to-date statistics, information on progress made and obstacles encountered in achieving gender balance, and recommendations for accelerating progress.

Report of the Secretary-General on Strengthening the Institutional Arrangements for Support of Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women

The present report provides a summary of progress in the implementation of the section of General Assembly resolution 64/289 entitled “Strengthening the institutional arrangements for support of gender equality and the empowerment of women”, by which the Assembly established, as a composite entity, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, known as UN-Women.

Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 65/187 on the intensification of efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women, the present report provides information on measures taken by member states and activities undertaken within the United Nations system m to address violence against women. It also contains conclusions and specific recommendations for future action.

Panel Discussion on Preventing Sexual and Gender-Based Crimes in Conflict and Securing Justice for Survivors

The High Level Side Event on “Preventing Sexual and Gender-Based Crimes in Conflict and Securing Justice for Survivors” was co-organized by The United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations, UN Women, the Nobel Women's Initiative and the Office of the Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict on 25 of September, 2012, at the UN headquarters in New York.

Panel Discussion on Women, Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Arms Control
