Costa Rica is a signatory to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). It ratified the Convention by Act Nº 6968 of 2 October 1984, which was published in the Diario Oficial on 11 January 1985. The instrument was deposited with the United Nations Secretariat on 4 April 1986.

The Commission on the Status of Women reaffirms the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the outcome documents of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly and the declarations adopted by the Commission on the occasion of the tenth and fifteenth anniversaries of the Fourth World Conference on Women.
Israeli and Palestinian youth leaders speak to civil society and Member State representatives at a round-table discussion hosted by the Permanent Mission of Ireland.
