AFRICA: African Women NGO to Construct U.S$5 Million Home for Women

An international non-governmental organization, PAN African Women Project, is to shortly embark on the construction of modern home for women and children in Liberia.

The women organization which has headquarters in South Africa with branches in five regions in Africa currently has a delegation in the country to hold talks with the relevant government institutions to begin the project in January of 2010.

Speaking to journalists in the provincial city of Gbanga, Bong County, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the Pan African Women Project Mrs. Eno Ben Udensi said the objectives of the NGO is to fight for the rights of women and children, and fight to eradicate poverty from the continent of Africa, and build the capacities of women and children to meet the challenges of the global community.

Mrs. Udensi added that the PAN African Women Model Homes, when completed, will give women and children the opportunity to expand on their academy activities, and provide micro loan for women in business to strengthen their financial capacities.
She furthered that the model homes project in Liberia will also include the building of orphanage and old folk homes, and provides trauma healing for war affected children.

She said the project will also include the treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) and the Sensitization on the effect of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) among others.

According to Mrs. Udensi, PAN African Women seriously shares the pain of Liberian women and has come to join President Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and the people of Liberia their effort of shipping the destiny of the post conflict nation.

She further disclosed the PAN African Women Project will invest US$5 million into the project and encourage all Liberian women to join and be a part so that women and children will live good and healthy lives.

The PAN African Women Project which consist of seven organs includes, the PAN African Women Conference, education foundation, health trust, model homes, womanhood mission, investment cooperation and the trust fund bank.
