Panel Discussion jointly organized by the Women Peacemakers Program, Women Empowerment Organization, ABAAD - Resource Centre for Gender Equality, Women's International League for Peace & Freedom, and the Post 2015 Women's Coalition, hosted by the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands to the UN in New York.

Event Highlights

In light of the events in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the panel discussion will present the opportunities and challenges for women's leadership in conflict prevention and peacebuilding in the region.

The panel discussion will provide:
An overview of the dynamics and specificities in regards to UNSCR 1325 implementation in the MENA region, highlighting women's strategies to advance women's leadership for peace. Reflection on the interaction between local/regional and international level processes and dynamics (opportunities and obstacles). The speakers will provide concrete recommendations for the Global Study on UNSCR 1325 and the Post 2015 Development Agenda.
