The secretary general of the ruling MPLA party, Julião Mateus Paulo "Dino Matross, asserted on Saturday here that the party guarantees the effective emancipation and promotion of women, and also assures equality of rights and opportunities in education, employment, as well as participation in the political, economic, social and cultural sectors.

Dino Matross, who was speaking at the closing ceremony of the homage to women who contributed to the national liberation struggle, stressed that the Angolan woman is currently present at different organs of sovereignty of the Republic of Angola, so as to contribute to the country's development.

He assured that the Angolan woman, a member of the party's women's wing dubbed Organisation of Angolan Women (OMA), is aware of her responsibility with the future, since the country's development process calls for the active participation of all sons and daughters in the great mission of educating the nation, thereby contributing to the reinforcement of the family ties in the whole national territory.

"In his year-end message, delivered in December 2010, the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, said and I mention that there is a need to consolidate values such as hard work and dedication, love to the nation, sacrifice, solidarity, tolerance and respect to others", he stressed.

Relating to the homage to women who contributed to the national freedom, he praised the gesture of OMA's executive secretariat, which decided to honour those women who contributed indifferently in a selflessly and patriotic manner to the national liberation struggle and to the organisation's organisational process.

The referred homage was presided over by the secretary general of MPLA, Julião Mateus Paulo "Dino Matross", and was attended by members of OMA's executive secretariat, members of MPLA's politburo, government officials, MPs, diplomatic corps accredited to Angola and invited guests.
