As the newly established UN WOMEN (The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women) sets its agenda and strategic direction for women all over the world, young African women (and young Africans in general) are invited to join the historic process to have their realities, ideas and priorities reflected in its first Strategic Plan. UN WOMEN-Africa and Moremi Initiative for Women's leadership in Africa invite input from young people from across the continent through this two-week long, online discussion from 15- 26 March, 2011.

Objectives of the E-Discussion
The e-discussion is a mechanism to engage young African leaders, practitioners and stakeholder groups in a regional dialogue on specific aspects of the UN WOMEN Strategic Plan. This discussion is anticipated to help identify and propose some concrete priorities, new entry points and strategic actions for the UN WOMEN Strategic Plan.
This discussion will brainstorm on three important questions:
The consultations are part of the global strategy of UN WOMEN to maintain ongoing dialogue with young people to ensure that they have a strong voice in the priority-setting, policies and programmes of UN Women. Selected young African women who participated in the recent 55th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women at the UN Headquarters started the engagement with this process. We are broadening this dialogue to engage a greater number of young Africans. Collated inputs and recommendations from this discussion will be submitted to the UN Women Strategic Plan Working Group for consideration and incorporation in the Global Strategic Plan.
Please invite other young Africans, especially young African women, in your network to join the discussion via email, facebook or twitter: Every voice counts.
