CENTRAL ASIA: UN Sec Gen Ban Ki-Moon to Meet with Women from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan

Within the framework of a visit to Kazakhstan for participation in the OSCE Summit UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will meet with a group of women of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan - participants of regional initiative " Women for peace and security in Central Asia, the Ferghana Valley region"; the UNDP press service informs of it.

At the meeting which will be held on November 30 representatives of women's NGOs who actively stand for peace in Central Asia on behalf of the region will hand over to the UN Secretary-General an Appeal to the UN Security Council to accelerate implementation of obligations accepted by the UN member states at the global level within global agenda "Women, peace and security".

The Appeal emphasizes that it is necessary to pay special attention to measures responses to violence against women and girls during conflicts and in post-conflict situation.
